A Medical
Power of Attorney is critical,
because it allows a trusted agent to
make healthcare decisions on your behalf.
It's important to remember the law
requires a power of attorney to be
in writing
When thinking
about who to choose for your Primary
Decision maker concider your in laws
who may have a calmer head in an emergency
than your own parents or spouce. You
may want to include a primary and secondary
choice on the same docment as well as
excluding people specifically.
!8 yr olds
might concider these too, as they trun
18 they no longer fall under their parents
wishes in the eyes of the law.
Few hospitals
wish to take on the responsibility
of determining your healthcare decisions
for you, especially in this litigious
society.
We all had questions
and Frances was able to answer most of
them. In the time we had (under an hour)
we could really onlu touch on the subject,
But we are all aware of the need for
one now and can do something about it.
