Regal Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma solare)

      Color varies with habitat from tan to reddish-brown to gray. We saw this one in southeast Tucson in April 2008. He stopped and let us take these pictures of him. Afterwe were done he stuck around for a while watching us, then went into the shade and he became even harder to see

These feed mostly on Ants, which are hard to digest, so they eat a lot of them.
