Hiking is a popular recreational pastime in Arizona, as a get-away from urban living, while enjoying the beauty and wildlife of nature. Hiking season runs all year in Arizona. Of course, with unpredictable weather and fires, some trails may be closed anytime during the season. The websites for the area will usually inform you of any closures or cautions and we provide links for most of the trails in our directory Search Tucson Pictures

The Hungry Fox Restaurant and Country Store

This was our first and last visit to this restaurant. We were not very satisfied with the food, the price was much higher than expected and service was lacking for the amount of people eating at the time

At first glance their menu looks nice, but drinks were listed (as far as I could tell) and I was very surprised to see that my soda cost over $2 !!! There was a nice chart to explain how to ask for your eggs to be cooked

The place looks like a country restaurant I guess, with a lot of clocks on the walls, however none worked and all were set to random times, so it was a bit weird and I kept checking my watch. There were maybe 6 other tables with guests, and easily 80% of the tables was empty. However one couple had to eventually ask for their food to go because their lunch hour was over and they had not yet been served

I ordered the 'Veggie Club' with fries. The sandwich was mostly bread (their famous white bread toast I assume) some lettuce and a hint of tomato I suspect the cook never ate one of these as it fell apart however I tried to eat it. I was not fond of the fries which were served at room temperature. Note the half full soda that ended up costing over $2, and I was offered one refill almost as we were leaving

The salad was served without a word with this green container. We looked at the menu, but there was no mention of the green dressing, it wasn't St Patrick's day and there was nothing posted like a sign explaining what the green dressing was.. We finally asked and were told as if we had missed something obvious, that the green was a coloring so they wouldn't get ranch confused with blue cheese.. I guess blue in the bleu cheese would have been too obvious a choice.. it did taste like ranch

The chicken plate with vegetables, mashed potatoes and 'gravy' Was also served with a slice of their famous bread.

However the chicken was quite pink inside and cold, not room temperature, but cold inside. This is how the plate was left. We were not even asked 'was everything alright?" Perhaps they are used to people leaving most of the food behind. All that remained was to find the soda was over $2 per glass on the check. It was a disappointing lunch, and we will not return
